Finglas Cabra Local Drug & Alcohol Task Force

Building community resilience to drug & alcohol misuse in Finglas and Cabra Communities

In Memoriam

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the sudden and unexpected passing of the Finglas Cabra Drug & Alcohol Task Force Co ordinator, John Bennett. This news has deeply saddened our organisation, and our thoughts are with Johns family at this difficult time

During his time, John played an instrumental role in shaping our organisation’s vision, values, and success. His leadership, dedication, and passion have left an incredible mark on all of us. His passing is a tremendous loss not only to our organization but also to the entire community.

Let us remember John for the profound impact he had on our lives and the legacy he leaves behind. John strived for compassion and understanding within the sector, and will be missed by his family, his staff, friends and the community.

The office will be closed until next week to allow for grieving through this difficult time

Thank you for being a part of our extended team and our community, and let us share our strength and support as we remember John Bennett.

About Us

We were established by the Irish government in 1997 as a response to the heroin epidemic in Dublin at that time. We are a multi-sectoral interagency partnership whose main function is to develop, implement, and coordinate community-based responses to drug and alcohol use in the Finglas and Cabra areas of Dublin City.

Our Vision: Our vision is of a community where all are working together with belief and confidence to resolve drug issues in a positive manner

Our Mission: To build and maintain an inclusive Task Force that leads a coordinated local drug strategy in the Finglas and Cabra areas

What We Do

We promote coordination and organize structured contact among our local community, voluntary and statutory sectors aimed at maintaining a local policy focus on the causes and consequences of problem drug use in Finglas and Cabra. This happens via an annual schedule of multi-sector inter-agency meetings involving all relevant statutory, voluntary and community organisations.

We commission community-based services and projects aimed at producing positive treatment, prevention and general good public health outcomes for those living in our catchment who are affected by drug and alcohol use.
